Two people were killed and six others injured when a car collided with a battery-powered rickshaw in Chandanaişh Upazila in Chattogram this morning (25 March).
The accident occurred near Rajmahal Community Centre beside the Dohazari electricity office, on the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar highway.
The victims, Babul Dey, 65 and Ranjit Dhar, 55, were injured on the spot and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
OC Salauddin Chowdhury of Dohazari Highway Police Station told The Business Standard that the police recovered both vehicles and legal action is underway.
Eyewitnesses said the car hit the rickshaw from behind while it was carrying passengers.
Those injured include Dilip Mallik, Tiklu Biswas, passenger Riad, Jerin Afroze, Md Ehsan, and Moshiur Rahman. They were first taken to Dohazari Health Complex and later referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
