Two people were killed and six others were injured during a road accident at Chandanaish upazila of Chattogram today (25 March).
The incident occurred in front of Rajmahal Community Centre near Dohazari Electricity Office on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway this morning.
The deceased were identified as Babul Dey, 65, and Ranjit Dhar, 55, both residents of Das Para area in Dohazari.
Confirming the matter, Dohazari Highway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Salahuddin Chowdhury, told The Business Standard, “Upon receiving information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the two vehicles. Legal action in this regard is underway.”
According to locals, the incident occurred when a private car collided with a parked rickshaw roadside and injured the victims. Later, locals rescued the injured and rushed them to Dohazari Health Complex in critical condition.
Following primary treatment, they were transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for further medical care. Upon arrival at CMCH, Babul and Ranjit were pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
