Dhanmondi police have arrested two activists of Awami League (AL), whose activities are currently banned, from Dhanmondi 32 yesterday morning (7 March) while they were trying to arrange a rally there.
The detainees have been identified as Md Monir Hossain, 36, and Md Jasim Uddin, 40.
According to Dhanmondi Model Police Station, a police team conducted a raid at Dhanmondi 32 at around 6am on Saturday based on a tip-off and arrested the two individuals.
During the operation, police recovered one national flag and 10 headbands intended to be worn on the head from their possession.
Police sources said the arrested individuals are active members of the banned organization and had gathered at Dhanmondi 32 with an intention to organize a procession.
Several promotional videos and images supporting the Awami League were also found on their mobile phones.
Police said legal proceedings against the arrested individuals have been taken.
