Two Bangladesh Air Force members died in a fire at LA Plaza, a commercial building in Mirpur-2, Dhaka.
They were identified as Ayesha Siddiqa Ononna, from Syedpur, Nilphamari, and Sheikh Rakibuzzaman, from Sirajdikhan, Munshiganj, confirmed Mirpur Police Station Sub-inspector Ahsan Sohel.
Their bodies are currently at the hospital morgue and will be handed over to the Air Force after completing legal procedures today (10 March).
Family members are arriving in Dhaka to receive the bodies, with the Air Force completing the formal handover.
Mirpur Fire Station Officer Shahjahan Siraj said the fire began on the third floor of the 11-storey building.
According to officials, the Fire Service received the report yesterday (9 March) at 1:52pm.
With six units deployed, the fire was brought under control by 3:22pm and fully extinguished by 4:35pm.
Talha Bin Jasim, officer-in-charge of the Fire Service media cell, said 14 men and 10 women were rescued using the Turn Table Ladder (TTL) after being trapped on different floors, while many others had fled to the roof.
Ayesha Siddiqa Ononna and Sheikh Rakibuzzaman were taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital after being rescued from the stairwell between the fourth and fifth floors, where they were later declared dead.
