An 18-foot-long python weighing around 50kg that had swallowed a goat was rescued in Bagerhat’s Sarankhola today (10 March).
Chogir Sardar, a Community Patrol Group member, told The Business Standard that the python had swallowed a goat weighing approximately 20kg.
“After receiving information from villagers, we quickly went to the spot. When we arrived, we saw that a large python had swallowed a goat,” he said.
“Later, the snake was rescued with the help of the Forest Department and WildTeam and released deep inside the Sundarbans.”
The goat’s owner, Md Sorab, said, “In the morning, I noticed my goat was missing. Later I heard that the python had swallowed it. This has caused me significant loss.”
