A joint force today (12 April) has seized 1,200 litres of diesel from the house of Moutala Union Parishad chairman Ferdous Morol in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira. The drive was conducted this afternoon in the Premandakati area.
A mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Ishtiaque Ahmed Apu of the district administration, found several drums containing diesel at the chairman’s residence and fined Morol Tk10,000 for illegally stockpiling fuel.
Ferdous Morol claimed he is a farmer with around 1,000 bighas of fish enclosures and dewatering machines. “I stored the diesel through different sources for irrigation work on my land,” he said.
The magistrate said the fuel was seized and the fine imposed due to illegal hoarding. The confiscated diesel has been handed over to the Kaliganj Police Station officer-in-charge.
The upazila executive officer has been instructed to sell the fuel at the government-fixed price and deposit the proceeds into the state treasury.
