Twelve people were reportedly injured in a clash between two rival groups over establishing dominance in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur this afternoon (4 April).
The incident took place around 4pm in Goaldi village under Purapara union in the upazila.
Confirming the matter, Additional Superintendent of Police (Nagarkanda Circle) Mahmudul Hasan said that the clash stemmed from a dispute over local dominance between the two groups.
“A minor argument escalated into violence involving locally made weapons. Several people were injured. Police intervened promptly and restored order,” he said.
He added that legal action is underway.
According to locals, a long-standing dispute had been ongoing between the Molla group of Bongram village and the neighbouring Talukdar group of Goaldi village over establishing dominance in the area.
The incident reportedly began following a minor altercation earlier in the day, which escalated into a full-scale clash as both sides attacked each other with locally made weapons.
Later, a police team under Mahmudul Hasan rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.
The injured were taken to various local hospitals for treatment.
